Recommendations to the MHA Board of Directors
 

We suggest the following:
 
Hire an outside firm to handle marketing, PR, website design and maintenance. A company hired for this purpose will be able to devote the time necessary to accomplish our goals which are:
a. To find new and creative ways to market the association and masonry heaters to the
public;
b. Revamp the website to make it easier to navigate and visually more appealing;
c. Promote the website on multiple search engines and purchase ad words from google and yahoo and msn;
d. Keep and maintain a list of media contacts;
e. Send press releases to media;
f. Send articles to magazines and edit as necessary (we write the articles);
g. Purchase, set up and booths at trade shows at related industry conventions to
promote the organization, and design attractive displays for the
trade show booth;
h. Design print ads;
i. Purchase listings on websites and printed materials
that are relevant to our services (i.e. The Last Straw consumer
guide, and other "green" building guides, magazines, etc.
 
Budget requested: $1,200 per month estimated to cover the above
expenses. I base this estimate on actual expenses incurred in other
organizations I belong to (Midwest Hearth, Patio, & Barbecue Assn,
Midwest Chimney Safety Council) and on an estimate already received
by a marketing firm. Of course, this can be revised to meet our
needs.
Also, I wrote a press release for the media to use and sent it to Norbert for posting on the website earlier this month. Richard can also use this when people call for information.
